The Foreign Relations office centralizes all international ties (with foreign officials and organizations in Israel and abroad) under one roof  in order to ensure proper and timely handling of foreign affairs, as well as to streamline obtaining well-written material in other languages and conduct suitable public relations for the fourth largest city in Israel.
The offices’ ties are primarily with Rishon’s Sister Cities, other cities throughout the world,  foreign Embassies in Israel and Israeli Embassies worldwide, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, government institutions and private companies.  For the list of the sister cities press here.
Rishon’s close relationship with its sister cities is manifested in all realms of life: affiliations between high schools, artistic exchanges, communications, dance troupes, choirs, sports teams, festivals, tournaments, cooperation on educational and cultural projects, partnerships between clubs for the blind, Rotary clubs, chess clubs and even between veterinarians and zoos!
From 1998-2013 hundreds of delegations from abroad came to Rishon LeZion and hundreds of delegations from Rishon went abroad, most of them in exchange programs with sister cities.
The International Relations Office maintains contact with overseas Israeli Embassies and Foreign Ambassadors in Israel, and helps organize visits and events. It also works on proper public relations and public diplomacy about Israel’s situation.
